As watercolor is still an exploration at this time, I felt the Biomes series was a good candidate to try new things on pieces I’m very familiar. It also was long overdue to create a color version of this series, and watercolor brings a key organic element. Most of the code structure from Biomes is kept, but the original texture from the trees had been removed to let the watercolor texture shine.

Everything is handled with the pen plotter, which demands a whole different approach and logistics: a brush is mounted in lieu of a pen, going back and forth between the paper and watercolor wells, clean water in order to change colors for all the trees and manage a slight gradient of the islands’ shore lines. Only tree trunks, grass and animals are still drawn using a rotring with archival ink.

The poster is signed and numbered by hand at the back, and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
Strictly avoid direct sunlight and keep the poster out of humidity in order to preserve the watercolor qualities.
